My name is Elaine and I am a DIY-oholic. Seriously I keep finding new ideas and wanting to change rooms in the house. Just when I think I have the house looking how I want it, I get the Pinterest itch and find another idea I want to implement. I cant decide if I like minimalist white with a hint of colour, or if I would prefer a cocktail of colours throughout the house.
We recently revamped our lounge, new sofa, chair, storage furniture and a new TV unit. A mixture of pre loved and IKEA finds. All white, with the addition of some red here and there. We had planned to strip the wall paper, paint the walls in vintage white and replace the curtains. I have brought some long white curtains that will go from wall to wall to create the illusion of a really large window.
It looks lovely, it feels cosy, but the 2 seater sofa and 1 armchair was not enough for a family of 5. So left with the dilemma we needed an answer, NEW SOFAS! So we have now brought 2 large 3 seater sofas, but they are green! So now I really need to get on and paint the walls white, and buy some green cushions etc to tie it all in together.
A room I have very much neglected is our bedroom! We have an old heavy cast iron bed and mattress which I love but it needs to be replaced, as it’s only a double. Our son has pretty much claimed our bed as his own so we need a king size bed next. Our bedroom is at the front of the house and gets very little light so its quite dark in there during the day so I going to paint the walls in a very pale colour. I am thinking possibly a pale pink with some gorgeous rose and gingham patterns on the bedding. Our current furniture is oak colour which will match but I think I would prefer a divan style bed to take advantage of the extra storage they create with the drawers underneath. It would be the perfect place for school uniform as the kids can never find things in their own rooms in the mornings.
